Rock & Roll Ride

October 3, 2020 - October 4, 2020

Saturday, October 3rd  & Sunday, October 4th. Please join us for fun filled action packed overnighter!  Have you ever listened to the music of Buddy Holly? Ritchie Valens? Big Bopper?  Well here’s your chance to learn more about them & what happened.  We will meet at the dealership at 7:00 am, ksu 7:20am.

Stop 1– 65 miles to Dunlap IA, gas if you need it-Stop 2– 50 miles HD of Carroll IA, gas if need it, Stop 3-65 miles  HD of Ames, gas if you need it, Stop 4– 80 miles to HD Charles City, gas if you need it, Stop 5– 30 miles to  HD Mason City, Stop 6 -20 miles to Clear  lake IA.  We will find a place to stop for lunch along the way.

Six rooms have been reserved at the Microtel Inn Suites Wyndham, 1305 North 25th Street, Clear Lake, IA, 50428.  There are either double rooms with queen beds for $80.10 or single queen bed for $75.60.  Please call 641-357-0966 and reserve your own room; currently rooms are under DHD: John Foxhoven

At 4:30-6:30, we will head into the Surf Ballroom Museum for a blast from the past, then head over to the Surf District Rock n Roll Grill for dinner.

The next morning, we will head out around-9:00am to visit the crash site.  It will be 3/4 of a mile of flat rock road, we will be pulling off to the shoulder or there is a grassy area, so you might want your kickstand plates with you.  We will be dropping a Defiance poker chip on the crash site for Memorial.  I will be talking with the owner and making a plexiglass memorial canister.   Harley riders can drop a chip in it.  This ride and story will be sent into the HOG Magazine.   This could make the cut and this tourist attraction could be put on the list for Harleys Destination rides.  On the way back it will be 250 miles on the interstate.

DHD Omaha Chapter activities are conducted primarily for the benefit of chapter members. There are three categories of activities, all activities are identified as follows:

  1. Closed events are those chapter events which are open to chapter members and one guest per member.
  2. Member events are events that are open only to chapter members.
  3. Open events are those chapter events which are open to chapter members, national HOG members and other guests as desired.

Note: All DHD Omaha Chapter activities are “Closed Events” unless stated otherwise.

If you are interested in a closed event and are considering joining our chapter, you are welcome to join us at our event. You will be required to sign a waver or join the DHD Omaha Chapter before the event starts.
